What is bacterial vaginosis? More commonly known as BV, is caused by overgrowth of various germs or bacteria in a women's private parts. You will have a yellowish discharge with noticeable smell. Vagina as per normal have different kinds of bacteria, good and bad as they say but when imbalance occur, that is where BV is experienced. Here are several natural home remedies that you can choose from, whichever suits you or whatever makes you comfortable. You will be sure that there will be no side effects because all the ingredients are natural, all provided by Mother Nature.

Ingredients and How to prepare :

1. Oregano Oil 
Oregano oil consist  both anti fungal and antibacterial properties that is used to fight germs and bacteria of bacteria vaginosis. Be mindful to use the oregano oil without alcohol. Oregano oil also prevents the bacteria from relapsing or to return.

- Combine three drop of oregano oil with luke warm water and drink twice a day for two months or alternatively you can mix one tablespoon of olive oil with three drops of oregano oil then massage or apply in your private parts and leave it for 2 hours. Do this once daily.

2. Tea Bags
Teas have astringent and antibiotic properties called tannins that helps reduce swelling and irritation and comforts you from the burning sensation.

- In a warm water, soak tea bags for 10-15 minutes. Refrigerate the tea bag to chill. Apply on the affected area to relieved itchiness. Do this three to four times a day for a couple of weeks or until infection disappear.
3. Indian Lilac
More commonly known as margosa or neem, have antibacterial and antifungal properties that helps to lessen inflammation and itching and also kills the germs that causes the infection.

- Wash the leaves first then pat dry. Without adding any water or liquid, heat a bunch of leaves until dry and can be pounded or grinded into powdery texture. Mix with a little amount of water until you create a "paste" out of it. Apply the paste around and in the vagina and leave it for half an hour. Rinse with luke warm water after. Continue using twice a day, or until no more indication of itchiness.

4. Coconut Oil
Like the oregano oil, coconut oil comprises of anti fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties that can help prevent and kill the recurring bacteria that causes bacterial vaginosis.

- Put coconut oil in three time daily in the affected area until the itchiness subsides or continue using until itchiness is completely gone or another thing is you can soak tampons in a coconut oil and insert it in your vagina for several hours then rinse with warm water. Do this continuously or until condition improves.
5. Milk / Yogurt
Milk and yogurt consist of lactobacilli that makes it a very powerful natural cure for bacterial vaginosis. Not to mention that milk strengthen our immune system and yogurt help maintains the pH balance of the vagina.

- With chilled milk or yogurt, dip tampon and insert it in your vagina for a one hour. Continue doing this to relieve symptoms. Or alternatively, if you are not comfortable with the first one, you can just add one teaspoon of turmeric powder to your milk and drink once a day until condition improves. For yogurt, you can eat 2 cups of plain yogurt a day to improve the pH balance in your vagina.

6. Fenugreek
Fenugreek enhances the PH level in the vagina and stimulate the immune system and make the healing process faster thats why it is highly beneficial in treating bacterial vaginosis.

- With a glass of water, soak two tablespoon of fenugreek seeds overnight. In the morning, drink the water with an empty stomach. Continue drinking for at least a month. You can also mix one teaspoon of fenugreek powder with one cup of yoghurt and eat twice daily until the symptom subsides. Lastly, you can also soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in one cup of hot water, strain. add honey and drink twice or three times daily.

7. Garlic
This herb has natural antibiotic that helps cure bacterial vaginosis.

- Smash or crush garlic and put it in the affected area for 20 minutes then rinse with water. Continue doing this once a day for several months. Another course of action is that you can wrap the garlic in clean cloth or gauze then put it in the vagina. Rinse after. Remember! Do not put the garlic in your vagina for more that 30 minutes, it will cause soreness.
8. Tea Tree Oil
Aside for the fact that like the other ingredients, tea tree oil also have anti fungal and antibacterial properties, but unlike the others, tea tree oil fights the awful smell cause by the bad bacteria.

- Stir a few drops of tea tree oil with warm water and use this to rinse your vagina once a day for one month. Or one more option, mix three drops of tea tree oil and three cups of vinegar with water then soak your private parts for half an hour. For two months, do this every other day.

9. Apple Cider Vinegar
Because of its acidic properties, apple cider vinegar helps eliminate the bad bacteria and helps to increase the vaginal acidity that makes it hard for the bad bacteria to survive, making way for the good bacteria to dominate you vagina area.

- Mix one to two cups of apple cider vinegar with you bath water and soak yourself for 20 minutes, pat dry. You can do this once a day until your condition improves.
